Velos V-Twin Heavy-Lift Unmanned Helicopter
Price Available Upon Request
The Velos V-Twin is a twin-rotor unmanned helicopter designed for heavy-lift and demanding professional UAV operations. With a maximum payload capacity of up to 17 kg, 52 kg MTOW, patented twin-transmission architecture, flexible payload integration, and support for advanced communication and flight-control systems, the V-Twin is built for a wide range of industrial, surveying, inspection, logistics, and mission-critical applications.
Heavy-Lift Twin-Rotor Unmanned Helicopter
The Velos V-Twin is a twin-rotor unmanned helicopter based on the traditional tandem rotorcraft concept. Designed around versatility, reliability, and heavy-lift capability, the platform has a maximum take-off weight of 52 kg / 114.5 lbs and supports payloads weighing up to 17 kg / 37.5 lbs.
The aircraft features two three-bladed rotors, a durable carbon-fiber fuselage, forward and aft canopy covers, and a folding landing gear system.
Power is supplied by four high-voltage lithium polymer battery packs operating at 48–56 V DC.
Fully Redundant Twin Transmission Design
At the core of the Velos V-Twin is its patented twin-transmission system.
The drivetrain is designed to tolerate the complete failure of critical components including:
- Motor
- ESC
- Belt
- Gears
- Bearings
- Main battery
- Servo
If a failure occurs, the drivetrain is designed to automatically isolate the affected component while maintaining controlled flight and allowing the aircraft to perform a safe landing.
Under normal operating conditions, critical components operate at approximately 50% of their maximum capacity, distributing the load across the system and reducing mechanical and electrical stress.
Flexible and Open Architecture
The Velos V-Twin uses an open and flexible architecture intended to support different mission requirements and system integrations.
The aircraft is equipped with the CubePilot OrangeCube flight controller, allowing additional hardware and software to be integrated according to operational requirements.
The platform supports different data-link configurations ranging from standard command-and-control operation to encrypted mesh networks capable of carrying:
- HD video
- Flight data
- Sensor information
The system is also compatible with:
- LTE
- 5G
- Satellite communication modules
Available communication frequency options include:
- 850–900 MHz
- 1.4 GHz
- 2.4 GHz
- 5.8 GHz
Ground Control and Mission Planning
The Velos V-Twin can be operated using a ground control station through either:
- A laptop combined with an RC unit
- A unified rugged Ground Control Station solution
In its standard configuration, the system is compatible with:
- Mission Planner
- UgCS flight-control software from SPH Engineering
These systems can be used to plan, monitor, and manage UAV missions.
Extensive Payload Capability
The Velos V-Twin supports a wide variety of payloads ranging from advanced sensor systems to cargo transportation.
Its payload rail system measures 110 cm in length and includes M4 threaded mounting points every 40 mm, allowing different sensors, equipment, and payload packages to be integrated within the available payload area.
The platform supports payloads weighing up to 17 kg / 37.5 lbs, subject to aircraft MTOW limits.
Payload Over the Rotor – POR
The Velos V-Twin offers a double Payload Over the Rotor (POR) capability.
Payloads can be installed above either of the two rotors, including:
- Antennas
- Sensors
- Parachute modules
- GNSS antennas
- Camera systems
The elevated mounting position provides 360° lateral visibility and unobstructed sky exposure.
This mounting arrangement can be particularly useful for GNSS antennas used in LiDAR surveying and can also support configurations such as a panoramic camera or dual-camera arrangement.
